Using Twitter to gain traffic to your website may be a little under rated by some. In fact, each time I write a post like this one, I have a plug in that automatically sends a tweet through my twitter account which notifies my followers about the new post. There are different plug-ins to do this. To find one you like just search for twitter in your plug-ins section of Wordpress. Each time I write a post and the tweet is sent, my site will receive around 50 visits or about 1% of my twitter followers.

While that may not seem like much, that is approximately 1500 website visits a month if I were to post on a daily basis. Looking at a pay per click rate of around 20 cents a click which is a low average, the same 1500 visitors would cost me around 300 dollars a month. With this in mind, driving traffic to my website via posts and tweets, is a good trade. I would rather drive traffic to my site in this manner than paying for the clicks and by posting and tweeting, my site grows content wise.

The other nice thing about using Twitter to drive traffic is that if you are a business which has a lot of followers you are able to send out tweets to your followers with daily, or monthly specials, or a business can just send a tweet announcing an unscheduled sale or special. Twitter is a very versatile way to advertise and as the amount of followers you have increases so will your website traffic. Twitter is simply a great way to let people know where to find you.

There are a couple of websites I am actually trying to get a good search engine ranking for. In order to do this I’m going to try linking from this site within this post using the search terms I want to be ranked for. For example. I just launched a website titled: Structural Insulated Panel Homes and want to link to the site from this one, so I have embedded a link right here in the paragraph and I’m hoping next time Google or Yahoo, or Bing crawl this site the will see the link I have embedded here and it will send the spider to the previously mentioned site for added search ranking strength. It also doesn’t hurt that the link is in this post and therefore will hopefully drive traffic to the website from here as well. Kind of like killing two birds with one stone.

The second website I will link to from here is: Cape Girardeau Internet and again I embed a link to drive traffic from this blog and so the search engine spiders will crawl the site. This is pretty easy to do if you have your own blogs to link from, but a little harder to add links when posting content on others sites. However, if you have a good SEO and Online Marketing Story that you want to have posted on my blog and create links to send back to your domains. Send them on over, and I’ll get them posted for you. Just fill out the contact form.

I’ve seen it too many times, a website someone has worked diligently on and looks great, yet the customers aren’t at your “online door” why? Chances are, you’re site may look great, be filled with fantastic information, and yet a dead end from a marketing perspective. If this is happening to you, it could be a simple fix. If you’re trying to catch a fish you need a hook and bait. If you’re trying to capture a customer, you need a hook and bait.

These two elements from an online perspective are “bait” being the desired element and a “hook” the tools used to capture their information.

The bait in many cases is some sort of free gift or free service. This could be a download, something sent with a purchase, a free consultation, and more. Usually it’s best to give away something that is automated so that when the customers gives their information an automated process takes over and delivers the item used as bait. For example, if you are offering a free online book, or “ebook” an automated system like the one found at www.Payloadz.com could be used. This system works by allowing you to upload the ebook to their servers, and when a customer purchases the product Payloadz sends new customer a link to download the book without any interaction from you. This service can be used to download these files for money, or for free. The choice is up to the web developer.

The bait could also be, for example, a free phone consultation or in-person consultation. This giveaway can be affective, but unless you know you are going to have a good return on your investment, you may want to be careful at first. You don’t want to end up giving all of your time away for free if you don’t have a good ROI or time to fulfill your order.

So you have the bait, now the hook. What tool will you use? If you’re looking for something simple use a contact form or email. Your words may read something like:

For a free tax consultation, fill out the contact form below, or email: customer@seoandonlinemarketing.com and state in the subject line “free tax consultation”.

If you’re looking for something technically more complex, you could even set up a button using a service like ringcentral.com, which will call your phone, then your customers and connect you to each other. The wording in this case would be something like:

If you would like a free tax consultation, click the button below and talk to an agent to set up an appointment now.

This kind of bait and hook system should be on the first page the customer sees when visiting your site to get maximum efficiency from your website. Below is an example of this concept:

Viral marketing and viral advertising refer to marketing techniques that use pre‐existing social networks to produce increases in brand awareness or to achieve other marketing objectives such as product sales through self‐replicating viral processes, analogous to the spread of pathological and computer viruses. It can be word‐of‐mouth delivered or enhanced by the network effects of the Internet. Viral marketing is a marketing phenomenon that facilitates and encourages people to pass along a marketing message voluntarily.

Viral promotions may take the form of video clips, interactive Flash games, advergames, eBooks, brandable software, images, or even text messages. The basic form of viral marketing is not infinitely sustainable.
It is claimed that a satisfied customer tells an average of three people about a product or service he/she likes, and eleven people about a product or service which he/she did not like. Viral marketing is based on this natural human behavior.

The goal of marketers interested in creating successful viral marketing programs is to identify individuals with high Social Networking Potential (SNP) and create Viral Messages that appeal to this segment of the population and have a high probability of being passed along.

The term “viral marketing” is also sometimes used pejoratively to refer to stealth marketing campaigns—the use of varied kinds of Astroturf both online and offline to create the impression of spontaneous word of mouth enthusiasm.
